It is very important to clean your microfibre cloths after every use due to the way the dirt is collected on the cloth. This dirt is not removed until the cloth has been cleaned. When cleaned with warm water, the fibres open up and release the dirt and grime that has collected on them. Fortunately, microfibre cloths are designed to be washed hundreds of times, allowing your cloths to last a long time – as long as you know how to care for them.
One of the easiest ways to wash your cloths is in the washing machine. Just as with clothes, you pop the cloths in the machine and wash on a cycle of up to 60 degrees with liquid detergent. Do not use fabric softener when washing your cloth, this will ensure that it will come out as good as new. Powder detergents will damage the cloths.
You are also able to wash the cloths by hand. All you need to do is wash them in warm soapy water and then rinse the cloths out with running water. Be careful to separate any cloths that are incredibly dirty or that have been used with harsh chemicals.
Once the washing of the cloths is complete, you just need to dry them. To do this, all you need to do is hang them up to air dry. Fortunately, microfibre cloths are quick to dry so it will not take too long either. However, if you’d prefer to tumble dry them, you can do this but make sure the heat is low so that it doesn’t damage or shrink your cloths.
It is advisable to wash your microfibre cloths before first use, to remove any stray fibres.
